QS Top Universities released today the QS Best Student Cities 2015 study, where we can find a list of 50 universities from all over the world.
Paris tops for the third consecutive year, the QS Best Student Cities, a ranking of the world’s top cities for students, released today on TopUniversities.com. Melbourne (2nd) gains three places while London drops to the third position. Australia has 2 cities in top 5, Melbourne and Sydney.
The ranking, compiled by the team behind the QS World University Rankings, is based on five key pillars, which are then broken down into individual criteria: university rankings; student mix; quality of living; employer activity and affordability.
To be included in the ranking, each city must have a population of over 250,000, and must be home to at least two ranked institutions in the QS World University Rankings. 116 cities in the world qualify on this basis, 50 have been ranked. So this is why Romania is not there yet, in QS World University Rankings® 2014/15 are only 4 universities: University of Bucharest, Babes-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca), Universitatea de Vest (Timișoara) and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Iași).
In Romania, the students decide where to go to faculty based on the brand of the faculty, the employment opportunities in the city, if the prices are cheap enough or if there is a program based on their wishes. And nevertheless, many of them want to be close to home.
